The Aaron Taylor-Johnson action thriller Fuze arrives on HBO Max on September 4, just months after its theatrical run.
According to Collider, the film centers on an unexploded bomb from World War II that is discovered on a construction site in the heart of London. The military and police, led by a commander named Zuzana Greenfield, played by Gugu Mbatha-Raw, secure the area and begin evacuating civilians while Major Will Tranter, played by Taylor-Johnson, and his team move in to defuse the device.
The situation is complicated by a separate crew, led by George Karalis, played by Theo James, that takes advantage of the evacuation to break into a nearby abandoned bank and steal a cache of uncut diamonds. Sam Worthington also appears in the film as a mysterious figure named X.
Fuze was directed by David Mackenzie, who previously had both critical and commercial success with the 2016 bank-robbery thriller Hell or High Water, written by Taylor Sheridan. The script for Fuze was written by Ben Hopkins.
The film earned $5 million at the box office during its theatrical release and holds a 72% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Collider's own review called the film "mediocre" but noted fun performances from Taylor-Johnson and Theo James.
Mackenzie's background with heist-adjacent material makes him a logical fit for a film that blends a bomb-disposal procedural with a bank robbery plot unfolding in the same cordoned-off city block.
Fuze begins streaming on HBO Max on September 4.
