Nottingham Forest has completed the signing of Daniel Munoz from Crystal Palace for £22 million. The Colombian right-back signed a three-year deal and arrives at the City Ground reconnecting with manager Oliver Glasner, under whom he won both the FA Cup and the Conference League while at Selhurst Park.
According to BBC Sport, Munoz spent two and a half years at Crystal Palace, making 109 appearances and scoring 11 goals. He also helped the club win the Community Shield in 2025. His 51 international caps for Colombia add an experienced international profile to a Forest backline that has been active in this transfer window.
Munoz is the second major arrival of the summer for Forest. He follows the club-record £50 million signing of Liam Delap, signaling that Forest is investing seriously ahead of a Premier League campaign they hope will go deeper than last season.
Munoz spoke directly about why he chose the move. "I'm really excited because I can see so much talent, Forest is a team with great players, great qualities and great skills on the pitch, I can't wait to get out there so I can help my new team-mates and I think that we're going to do great things," he said. He also pointed to the club's recent trajectory as a factor in his decision. "It is a club that's fought hard in recent years, it has competed hard, it got to the semi-finals of the Europa League and I think it has even greater objectives for the future, and really this is what I like about Forest, and that's why I decided to come here."
Forest chief football officer George Syrianos also commented on the signing. "Daniel has performed strongly in the Premier League and in European competition, and we believe he has the mentality and ambition to make a significant contribution to the club," he said.
Forest drew 2-2 at Liverpool on Saturday in their most recent Premier League match, but the club lost their first two games of the season, falling to Leeds United in both the league and the Carabao Cup. The early results put pressure on the squad to turn things around quickly.
Munoz could make his Forest debut as soon as Saturday, when the club hosts Tottenham Hotspur in a Premier League fixture at the City Ground.
