Lionel Richie was hospitalized following his concert in St. Louis on Saturday night, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which confirmed the news through a source close to the singer's tour.
The source said Richie "self-checked in after the show Saturday night and is doing okay." TMZ had first reported that Richie was taken to the ICU, with doctors treating him for possible slight dehydration.
Saturday's show was Richie's first solo performance since wrapping a joint tour with Earth, Wind and Fire earlier this month in Austin, Texas. That tour had its own medical scare. In June, Richie abruptly ended a concert in Minnesota after appearing to fall ill on stage. He told the crowd he was feeling dizzy, performed several songs while seated, and then left the stage during an intermission and did not return.
About 40 minutes after Richie called for the intermission, saxophonist Dino Soldo addressed the crowd. According to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, as The Hollywood Reporter noted, Soldo told the audience the show was over because Richie was not feeling well.
Two shows were postponed following that incident. Richie returned to touring in Pittsburgh on June 30 and finished the joint tour without further reported interruptions.
He currently has 10 more shows scheduled for 2026, beginning with a date at Chase Center in San Francisco on September 26. Six of those dates are part of a Las Vegas residency at Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas, running from October 14 through November 13. He is also scheduled to perform at Nubank Parque in São Paulo, Brazil on December 19.
As of the time The Hollywood Reporter published its story, it was unclear whether the latest hospitalization would affect any of those upcoming dates.
