Everton have agreed a deal to bring Jack Grealish back to the club on a season-long loan from Manchester City, with the move expected to be completed before Tuesday's transfer deadline.
According to BBC Sport, Grealish is set for a medical at Everton ahead of the 23:00 BST deadline. The 30-year-old spent a large portion of last season at the Merseyside club under a similar arrangement, scoring twice and providing six assists in 20 appearances before sustaining a season-ending foot injury in January.
Grealish had been linked with several clubs, including his boyhood club Aston Villa, but his preference was to return to Everton. Everton chief executive Angus Kinnear told BBC Radio Merseyside that the club had "remained in contact" with Grealish throughout the window.
The England winger has made only two appearances for Manchester City this season. He came on as a substitute in their Community Shield defeat by Arsenal, then came off the bench in a Premier League win against Bournemouth. He did not figure in City's 4-1 victory at Crystal Palace on Friday. Grealish joined City from Villa for £100m in August 2021.
Everton's move for Grealish comes as winger Iliman Ndiaye, 26, is expected to complete a £65m switch to City. With that departure looming, the club moved to reinforce their attacking options before the deadline closed.
Everton have also agreed a £3m deal to sign Ainsley Maitland-Niles from French club Lyon. The 29-year-old former Arsenal player has won five caps for England and can operate as a full-back or in midfield. The club also appears close to signing Monaco and USA forward Folarin Balogun in a £40m deal, though their effort to re-sign Brazil striker Richarlison from Tottenham has stalled over personal terms.
On the outgoing side, Scotland defender Nathan Patterson, 24, could move to Serie A side Torino before the deadline. Talks between the clubs are ongoing, and it remains unclear whether any deal would be a loan or a permanent transfer. A proposed £9.4m move for Dutch full-back Kenny Tete from Fulham also appears to have fallen through, with that deal seemingly dependent on Fulham finding a replacement first.
Everton's next match is Sunday at home against Manchester United in the Premier League, with kickoff at 14:00 BST.
