He was a key contributor despite being pressed into an increased role after Ed Oliver’s injury. Buffalo sacked Goff four times overall.
Cook had 83 rushing yards before first contact in the first half against Detroit, more than the Lions’ total rushing yards for that period. The Bills built a 21-0 lead early and never allowed the Lions to get closer than 10 points after Detroit began its comeback, according to a report from ESPN. Fans were excited throughout the game, cheering loudly with every Allen pass and Cook run.
The atmosphere was electric as the team celebrated in their new home. The old stadium across the street has been reduced largely to concrete and steel rubble as demolition continues. The larger demolition and site preparation project is scheduled to continue through March 2027.
Despite the loss, the Lions showed some signs of improvement in the second half. Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown had a few moments that gave hope to the team and its supporters. St. Brown finished with nine catches for 142 yards and two touchdowns.
The Lions' offense struggled early in the game, with Goff being sacked twice in the first quarter. Jameson Williams, who had been expected to be a breakout player, was targeted only four times and finished with two catches for 33 yards.
Detroit's defense has allowed at least 30 points in back-to-back games this season. This marks the first time since 2021 that the Lions have allowed 30 or more points in their first two games of a season. The team has now allowed 30 or more points in five of its last eight regular-season contests.
