Harry Styles’ record-setting residency at Madison Square Garden is becoming the subject of a new documentary directed by filmmaker John Wilson. The project will capture the British singer’s 30-show engagement in New York City, combining live concert footage with behind-the-scenes material and stories from people involved in the production.

Wilson has been filming the performances since August, according to a report published by Variety on October 17, 2026. The documentary is being produced by Universal Pictures Content Group, Peanut World Pictures and Styles, with Universal Pictures Content Group holding worldwide rights.

The film is expected to combine concert performances with a closer look at the people who make the tour possible. Its subjects will reportedly include Styles, concertgoers, production personnel and others connected to the residency.

A theatrical release through Universal is under consideration, although distribution arrangements have not been finalized. No premiere date, official title or release schedule has been announced.

A Historic Run at Madison Square Garden

Styles began his Madison Square Garden residency on August 26 as part of his Together, Together world tour. The engagement is scheduled to finish October 31, completing the longest single-engagement concert residency in the arena’s history.

The 30 performances are taking place across more than two months, with concerts generally scheduled on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Madison Square Garden confirmed that the engagement represents Styles’ only United States appearances during 2026 and the largest number of performances at one venue on his international tour.

The residency builds on the singer’s established relationship with the New York arena. His earlier Love On Tour included a 15-night Madison Square Garden run in 2022, making the current engagement another major milestone in his solo career.

The final concerts are scheduled for October 30 and 31, with both performances promoted under the Halloween-themed name Harryween. The closing night will bring an end to the New York portion of a tour that has already traveled across several continents.

The venue has also created special activities around the residency, including themed merchandise, photo opportunities and food offerings. These additions have helped turn the concerts into a broader experience for audiences traveling to New York.

For the documentary, that atmosphere provides material extending beyond the performances themselves. The production is expected to examine the people attending the shows and the work required to present such a lengthy engagement at a major arena.

John Wilson Brings His Documentary Style to the Project

Wilson is best known for creating HBO’s How To with John Wilson, a documentary comedy series that examines everyday life through unusual encounters and observations. The program earned critical praise for its distinctive approach to storytelling and its attention to ordinary people.

His work often begins with a simple subject before shifting toward unexpected personal experiences. That style may provide a different perspective from traditional concert documentaries, although the precise creative direction of the Styles project has not been publicly detailed.

Wilson also directed The History of Concrete, a documentary feature that explores its subject through a combination of personal observations and encounters. His involvement suggests the upcoming film could devote considerable attention to the people surrounding Styles rather than focusing entirely on performances.

The filmmaker has previous experience working with musicians. In 2025, he directed the music video for Bon Iver’s “Everything Is Peaceful Love,” from the album SABLE, fABLE.

The new production represents Wilson’s first documentary centered on a major recording artist. His participation was reported after concertgoers noticed filming activity during the Madison Square Garden engagement.

According to Variety, people familiar with the production described a project interested in authentic experiences involving the singer, his fans and the numerous workers supporting the tour. The finished film’s structure and the amount of backstage access it will include have not been confirmed.

Styles Continues Promoting His Fourth Studio Album

The Madison Square Garden concerts support Styles’ fourth studio album, Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally., released March 6, 2026, through Erskine and Columbia Records. The 12-track project marked his first studio album since Harry’s House in 2022.

The album includes the singles “Aperture” and “American Girls,” along with tracks such as “Dance No More,” “Coming Up Roses” and “Carla’s Song.” The release continued Styles’ solo career following his years as a member of One Direction.

The record reached No. 1 on the United Kingdom’s Official Albums Chart. Its commercial success helped provide the foundation for an international tour featuring extended engagements in selected cities rather than a conventional schedule of brief arena stops.

The Together, Together tour began in Amsterdam in May 2026 and included appearances in London, São Paulo, Mexico City, Melbourne and Sydney. New York received the longest engagement of the tour’s initial schedule.

The residency has also featured personal moments alongside the new material. During an October 16 performance, Styles introduced an unreleased song titled “What Is Enough,” in a tribute to his former One Direction bandmate Liam Payne on the second anniversary of Payne’s death.

Whether that performance will appear in Wilson’s documentary is unknown. The production has not disclosed a complete list of songs, scenes or interviews planned for the finished film.

More Tour Dates Scheduled for 2027

Styles has already extended Together, Together into 2027, announcing 25 additional stadium performances across North America and Europe.

The new dates begin April 2 in Phoenix, Arizona, before continuing through Dallas, Los Angeles, Toronto, Atlanta and Chicago. The European portion starts July 2 in Berlin, with subsequent appearances planned for Paris, Madrid, Rome and Dublin.

The extension is scheduled to finish at London’s Wembley Stadium on August 28, 2027, following three performances at the venue. The additional dates will expand the tour beyond its original 2026 schedule.

It is not yet clear whether Wilson’s film will include material from those future concerts. The reporting available so far centers on the Madison Square Garden residency, where filming has been underway since August.

The documentary joins a growing collection of music films that provide audiences with a closer view of major concert productions. Unlike a straightforward recording of a live performance, Wilson’s project is being developed to include stories from the people involved in creating and attending the shows.

Universal has not announced when audiences will be able to see the completed production. For now, Styles has seven Madison Square Garden concerts remaining after his October 17 performance, with the final show scheduled for Halloween night.
