Inter Milan are reportedly ready to resume contract negotiations with striker Marcus Thuram after the Frenchman's late-season resurgence breathed new life into talks that had previously stalled.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the runaway Serie A leaders want to extend Thuram's deal beyond its current 2028 expiration and neutralize a release clause set at €85 million. The move comes as several Saudi Pro League clubs and Premier League side Newcastle United have been circling the 28-year-old forward.
Thuram's season has been uneven by his standards. He has managed just 15 goals in 38 competitive appearances, with only ten coming in 25 Serie A matches. But his recent form tells a different story. The former Borussia Mönchengladbach striker scored three times in his last two league outings, including a crucial brace against Como on Sunday that helped Inter rally from a two-goal deficit to win 4-3 at the Sinigaglia Stadium.
That dramatic comeback appears to have shifted the calculus at San Siro. Rather than risk losing Thuram through his release clause this summer, Inter now see a renewed contract as the best path to securing their attacking cornerstone. With the club firmly in command of the Serie A title race, locking down key players has become a priority as they look to build sustained dominance in Italian football.
