Hours after announcing her split from NBA shooting guard Klay Thompson, Megan Thee Stallion was onstage at Moulin Rouge! The Musical in New York City — and the weight of the day caught up with her during the curtain call.
Fan-captured footage from her Saturday appearance at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre shows the 31-year-old rapper turning away from a standing ovation to wipe tears from her face. She was still in costume as Zidler, the role she has been playing since March 24 in an eight-week engagement that runs through May 17.
Earlier that day, Megan had posted to Instagram Stories confirming the end of her relationship with Thompson, the Dallas Mavericks player, citing cheating. "Cheating, had me around your whole family playing house… got 'cold feet,'" she wrote. "Holding you down through all your HORRIBLE mood swings and treatment towards me during your basketball season now you don't know if you can be 'monogamous'????"
She followed that with a formal statement. "I've made the decision to end my relationship with Klay," Megan said in remarks obtained by Billboard. "Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there's no real path forward. I'm taking this time to prioritize myself and move ahead with peace and clarity."
The two began dating in the summer of 2025 after what Megan described as "a meet cute." They made their red carpet debut together in New York City that July. By Thanksgiving, Thompson had named his boat the "SS Stallion" and the couple spent the holiday with his family. Earlier this year, Megan said publicly that she was "manifesting my engagement."
Her Broadway run marked a milestone: Megan is the first female-identifying performer to play the role of Zidler in Moulin Rouge!, the Tony Award-winning production. The show continues through May 17.
