Inter Milan left points on the table Sunday but remain firmly in control of the Serie A title.
The Nerazzurri drew 2-2 at Torino after squandering a two-goal advantage, a result that complicates but does not derail their championship push. With Napoli still 10 points behind and four rounds remaining, the math still heavily favors Inter.
The afternoon started well. Marcus Thuram headed Inter in front in the 23rd minute, converting a pinpoint cross from Federico Dimarco. That assist was Dimarco's 17th of the season, breaking the all-time record for assists in a single Serie A campaign. The 28-year-old left back was not finished. He delivered a corner in the second half that Yann Bisseck headed in off the far post, and Inter appeared to be cruising.
Then Torino woke up.
Giovanni Simeone pulled one back in the 70th minute with a goal of genuine quality. He backhee led a through ball into the path of Emirhan Ilkhan, then raced forward to collect the return pass and delicately dinked it over goalkeeper Yann Sommer. Moments later the equalizer arrived. Nikola Vlasic struck a penalty into the top left corner after a VAR review found that a Duvan Zapata header had struck the arm of Inter defender Carlos Augusto.
A win would have left Inter needing only to avoid defeat at home to Parma next weekend to mathematically clinch the title, regardless of results elsewhere. Instead, they must keep working. The lead is still commanding, but the Torino result was a reminder that nothing is sealed.
Elsewhere in Serie A, Como continued their push for Champions League qualification with a 2-0 win at Genoa. Goals from Tasos Douvikas and Assane Diao, both headers, moved Como to within two points of fourth-placed Juventus. Roma, who beat Bologna 2-0 on Saturday, sits level with Como in what is becoming a crowded race for that final European spot. Fiorentina and Sassuolo drew 0-0.
Juventus played at third-placed AC Milan later Sunday, a result that could reshape the top-four picture further.
