A British dramedy swept the top honors at Canneseries, the French television festival, walking away with three prizes including best series at the event's ninth edition.

Alice and Steve, created by Sophie Goodhart and produced by Clerkenwell Films for Disney+, had its world premiere at the festival before claiming the top prize. Starring Nicola Walker and Jemaine Clement, the series was also awarded the High School Award and a special jury prize for its ensemble cast, reflecting an unusually broad appeal across different jury bodies and age groups, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The awards were presented Tuesday evening at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes following several days of screenings and industry events.

The rest of the winners list reflected a geographically diverse field. Finland's entry Guts, a co-production with Slovenia, earned the best performance prize for actress Roosa Söderholm. Belgium had a strong night, with Boho winning best short form series and The Deal With Iran taking best docuseries. Sweden's Summer of 1985 claimed best music for composer Jonas Wikstrand.

Spain's I Always Sometimes earned the best screenplay award, credited to writers Marta Bassols, Marta Loza, and Almudena Monzú. An Austrian-German co-production, Sheep, received the student jury award. French titles claimed the audience-facing prizes, with Empathie winning the Europe 1 Audience Award and Plaine Orientale taking the Air France Travelers' Choice Award.

The ninth edition of Canneseries closed with the ceremony, capping a week that placed Alice and Steve at the center of international television conversation ahead of its Disney+ release.
