Philadelphia led the series 3-0 and had two chances to close it out. They lost both.
The Flyers fell 3-2 to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday at PPG Paints Arena, their second consecutive loss after holding what looked like an unassailable series lead. Pittsburgh has now cut the deficit to 3-2 and has momentum.
Despite the back-to-back defeats, Philadelphia's players pushed back on the notion that pressure had shifted in Pittsburgh's favor. The Flyers still lead the series and control their own fate. A win in Game 6 ends it. But so did a win in Game 4, and Game 5.
No team in NHL playoff history has ever come back from a 3-0 series deficit to win. Pittsburgh would need to win two more games to become the first. The Flyers need just one.
Game 6 location and date were not immediately confirmed, but Philadelphia returns home with the series advantage still intact.
