12 Shot Near Arcadia Lake Outside Oklahoma City
A gunman opened fire at a gathering of young people near Arcadia Lake outside Oklahoma City Sunday night. Twelve people were taken to area hospitals.
Edmond police received reports of shots fired around 9 p.m. near the lake. No arrests had been made by late Sunday.
Where the Victims Went
- Nine were taken to Integris Health Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City
- Three were treated at Integris Health Edmond Hospital
A hospital spokesperson said all patients were still being assessed late Sunday night. Victims arrived in "various conditions." Some were transported by police. Others drove themselves.
What Police Said
Spokesperson Emily Ward said investigators were "all over the metro speaking with victims and witnesses."
"This is obviously a very terrifying situation and we understand the concern from the public," Ward said. "We are working extremely hard to find the suspects."
The Gathering
A flyer circulating on social media indicated the event was called "Sunday Funday," scheduled near the lake that evening. Edmond police did not confirm those details.
Arcadia Lake is an artificial reservoir about 13 miles north of Oklahoma City in Edmond, a suburb of roughly 100,000 people. The lake draws visitors for fishing, boating and camping.
Police set up a reunification center for families at a nearby Walmart.
