The New York Jets locked up running back Breece Hall on a three-year, $45.75 million contract, according to multiple reports, giving one of their most important offensive players a long-term commitment after the team had already used the franchise tag on him earlier this offseason.
The deal averages out to just over $15 million per year, which places Hall behind only Saquon Barkley and Christian McCaffrey among running backs in average annual value. Hall will receive $29 million guaranteed. He had been set to earn $14.293 million under the franchise tag before the two sides agreed to the longer deal.
Hall ran the ball 243 times for 1,065 yards and four touchdowns last season. He also added 36 receptions out of the backfield, though that receiving number was lower than in each of the previous two seasons, a drop in usage that new offensive coordinator Frank Reich may look to address when the Jets open the 2026 season.
Hall is one of three franchised players to finalize a deal ahead of the season. Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens and Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts both signed their respective tags and have until July 15 to work out multi-year extensions with their teams.
The Jets have now secured their backfield for at least the next three seasons, with Hall entering what figures to be a prime stretch of his career. Whether Reich restores Hall to a heavier pass-catching role alongside his rushing duties remains to be seen when training camp opens later this summer.
