The 2026 PGA Championship gets underway at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, with Scottie Scheffler entering as the +480 favorite to win back-to-back titles at one of golf's four majors.

Scheffler won last year's PGA Championship by five strokes over Harris English, Bryson DeChambeau, and Davis Riley. The course at Aronimink plays as a par-70 layout stretching 7,394 yards. Behind Scheffler on the odds board sit Rory McIlroy at +950, Cameron Young at +1200, Jon Rahm at +1500, and Ludvig Aberg at +1800, according to CBS Sports.

SportsLine golf analyst Brady Kannon, who has tracked the sport for more than 30 years and called eight major winners since 2013, is taking a clear stance against Rahm this week. Despite the Spaniard ranking as one of the top five choices on the board, Kannon is avoiding him in both outright and head-to-head bets.

"The two-time major champion is a top 5 choice on the odds board to win the PGA Championship but I am guessing his price will drift higher," Kannon said. "In seven trips to East Lake for the Tour Championship, he's finished top 5 twice but otherwise has been below average. He finished 24th here at Aronimink in 2018, missed the U.S. Open at Pinehurst in 2024 with injury, missed the cut in 2016 in his only attempt at the Wyndham Championship, and has never played Detroit Golf Club."

Kannon has also identified a longshot at odds higher than 200-1 who he believes is worth targeting based on experience at similar courses and what he describes as an elite short game. The full details of that pick are available through SportsLine.

The field is loaded with contenders capable of challenging Scheffler, particularly McIlroy, who has been among the most consistent players on tour. Young has also drawn attention as a potential breakout candidate at a major after several strong finishes in recent seasons.

Aronimink will host the week's action as one of the more historically significant venues to hold a major in recent years. The par-70 setup is shorter than many championship courses in total par but stretches to nearly 7,400 yards, putting a premium on ball-striking and course management. How players handle that balance across four rounds will likely determine where the Wanamaker Trophy ends up.
