Luke Kirby is joining Law and Order Toronto: Criminal Intent as a series regular in season four, while Aden Young is leaving the show after three seasons in the role of Detective Sergeant Henry Graff.
Kirby will play Detective Sergeant John Darcy, a character called up from Guns and Gangs to partner with Detective Sergeant Frankie Bateman, played by Kathleen Munroe, in Homicide. According to Variety, Young and the production are parting on amicable terms.
Kirby is best known for playing comedian Lenny Bruce in the Amazon series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, a role that earned him three Emmy nominations and one win. His other recent credits include The Last Thing He Told Me for Apple TV+, Etoile on Amazon, Dr. Death at Peacock, and The Deuce at HBO.
Executive producer Tassie Cameron offered strong praise for the casting. "From the moment we began imagining this next chapter, Luke stood out as the ideal choice. He brings a sharp intelligence and emotional depth that perfectly aligns with the kind of storytelling 'Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent' is known for," Cameron said. "His work is grounded, unpredictable, and deeply character-driven, which makes Detective Darcy an immediate and fascinating presence on our team. We're incredibly excited to welcome him to the series."
Young has been part of the series since it launched on Citytv, playing Detective Sergeant Henry Graff across all three seasons. No reason was given for his departure.
Returning cast members for season four include Karen Robinson as Inspector Vivienne Holness, K.C. Collins as Deputy Crown Attorney Theo Forrester, Nicola Correia-Damude as Pathologist Dr. Lucy Da Silva, and Araya Mengesha as Tech Expert Mark Yohannes. Production is currently underway in Toronto.
The series is produced by Lark Productions and Cameron Pictures Inc. in association with Universal International Studios and Citytv, a subsidiary of Rogers Sports and Media. It is based on the format created by Dick Wolf and developed by Rene Balcer for Universal Television. Cameron serves as showrunner alongside executive producers Erin Haskett, Amy Cameron, David Valleau, Alex Patrick, Wanda Chaffey, and Tex Antonucci. NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution handles distribution.
Season four is expected to debut on Citytv in fall 2026.
