New York Giants wide receiver Gunner Olszewski went down Friday during OTAs with a noncontact injury, and the team fears he has torn his Achilles tendon.
Sources told ESPN about the injury, which occurred during voluntary organized team activities. Noncontact Achilles tears are among the most serious injuries in football. Recovery typically takes a minimum of several months, and players often miss an entire season.
If confirmed, the injury would be a significant blow to Olszewski heading into the 2026 NFL season. He had been participating in the Giants' offseason program when the injury occurred.
The Giants have not yet made a formal announcement. Sources indicated the team fears the worst, though a full medical evaluation would be needed to confirm the diagnosis.
OTA injuries are relatively rare given the limited contact allowed during the sessions, which makes a noncontact Achilles tear particularly unfortunate. The Giants will now wait on further testing before determining next steps for the receiver.
