Russell Wilson announced Wednesday evening that he is joining CBS Sports as an analyst on The NFL Today, ending his run as an active NFL quarterback.

Wilson confirmed the move in a video posted to social media, saying, "Thank you, football." He will join a panel that includes host James Brown, Pro Football Hall of Fame coach Bill Cowher, and retired wide receiver Nate Burleson. The show is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year after winning a Sports Emmy last season, according to CBS Sports.

"As I enter this next chapter with CBS Sports and 'The NFL Today,' I'm so blessed to continue doing what I love most, being around the greatest game in the world," Wilson said.

Wilson spent 10 seasons with the Seattle Seahawks after being selected in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He earned Pro Bowl selections in nine of those ten years. Seattle made back-to-back Super Bowl appearances in 2013 and 2014, including a 43-8 victory over the Denver Broncos. The Seahawks also won at least one playoff game in each of Wilson's first five seasons, a mark he shares with Joe Flacco for the most consecutive seasons with a playoff win to begin a starting quarterback's career in NFL history.

His career changed course after a 2022 trade to Denver. Wilson led the NFL in sacks taken with 55 in his first season with the Broncos, a year that ended with the team going 5-12. He struggled to connect with coach Sean Payton the following season and was released. Pittsburgh then signed him, and Wilson led the Steelers to six wins in 11 starts and a 2024 postseason appearance. That season he also led the NFL with four fourth-quarter comebacks, earning his tenth Pro Bowl selection.

His final stint came with the New York Giants in 2025. After three losses as the starter, the Giants turned to first-round pick Jaxson Dart, and Wilson's playing career effectively came to a close.

Wilson and Aaron Rodgers are the only players in NFL history with at least 45,000 passing yards, 350 passing touchdowns, and 30 rushing touchdowns. Wilson finished with 46,966 passing yards, 353 touchdowns, and 31 rushing scores.

He will appear on The NFL Today beginning with the 2026 season.
