The New York Knicks took a commanding 2-0 lead in the NBA Finals on Friday night, beating the San Antonio Spurs on the road for the second straight game. According to ESPN, Karl-Anthony Towns carried the Knicks on both ends of the floor as New York held off a San Antonio comeback in Game 2.
The victory made the Knicks just the third team in NBA history to win the first two games of the NBA Finals on the road.
For San Antonio, the loss was made more painful by a late turnover from star center Victor Wembanyama. ESPN reported that Wembanyama admitted urgency got the better of him on the play. He said he would use the frustration as fuel heading into Game 3.
The series now shifts, with San Antonio facing a steep climb. No team in NBA Finals history has come back from a 2-0 deficit to win the championship since the 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers.
