San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama said he wants to enjoy himself as the team heads back to Madison Square Garden for Game 4 of the 2026 NBA Finals on Wednesday night.
"I'm looking forward to having fun," Wembanyama told ABC News in an interview airing Wednesday on Good Morning America. "I think it's too easy to forget that, maybe because it's the best basketball game in the world, but it's too easy to forget to have fun sometimes."
The Spurs entered Monday's Game 3 trailing the New York Knicks 2-0 in the best-of-seven series. They won 115-111 to pull within one game. Wembanyama scored 32 points in that victory. He and teammate Stephon Castle became the first pair of teammates both age 22 or younger to each score 20 or more points in an NBA Finals game, according to ESPN.
When asked whether the atmosphere at Madison Square Garden, in front of a crowd of nearly 20,000 people, fired him up, Wembanyama did not hesitate.
"I mean, we're as fired up as it gets right now ... I would say I agree with you," he said. "We were really locked in, really focused."
Wembanyama, who stands 7 feet 4 inches tall, is competing in his first NBA Finals. The France native was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. He is 22 years old.
Game 4 tips off at 8:30 p.m. ET Wednesday at Madison Square Garden and will air on ABC and ESPN.
