Indian actor and politician Pawan Kalyan will return for a sequel to They Call Him OG, with the shoot expected to begin after November, according to Variety.
Pawan Kalyan Creative Works confirmed the project is in active development. Discussions are set to begin once director Sujeeth returns from abroad. The production house addressed the timeline on X, posting: "As promised, he will. The timing, he will let us know. Once @Sujeethsign returns from abroad, we will discuss."
The original film, released in 2025, is a Telugu-language crime action drama following Ojas Gambheera, a retired gangster who resurfaces in Bombay in 1993 after a decade in exile to confront a rising crime lord named Omi Bhau. Produced by DVV Entertainment, it grossed $35 million and ranked as the ninth-highest-grossing Indian film of 2025.
Sujeeth, who previously directed Saaho, wrote and directed the original film, shaping the Ojas Gambheera character around Kalyan's established screen image. Composer Thaman S, working with Kalyan for the fourth time, provided a score that contributed significantly to the film's commercial performance.
Production on the first film took place around Kalyan's political commitments. He serves as Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister, a role that constrained the original shoot schedule and is likely to shape the timeline for the sequel as well.
Kalyan has a long track record of commercial hits in Telugu cinema. His 2012 film Gabbar Singh marked a blockbuster comeback. Attarintiki Daredi in 2013 was the highest-grossing Telugu film of its time. Vakeel Saab in 2021 and Bheemla Nayak in 2022 both drew strong returns during the post-pandemic period.
With Sujeeth's return now the formal trigger for pre-production conversations, the sequel moves from speculation into confirmed development.
