Justin Allgaier took the checkered flag Saturday at Pocono Raceway, surviving a chaotic final restart to win the MillerTech Battery 250 in the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series.
According to Yahoo Sports, Allgaier and Sam Mayer traded the lead for the final 50 laps of the race. Mayer's chances ended on the final restart when his own Haas Factory Team teammate Sheldon Creed pulled three-wide alongside him, then got tight after clearing Mayer going into turn 1, ending any momentum Mayer had to challenge for the win.
Brent Crews finished second, edging out William Byron at the line. Mayer came in fourth and Creed fifth, leaving both Haas Factory Team drivers without a victory after they effectively took each other out of contention.
The win was Allgaier's fifth of the season. He drives the No. 7 JR Motorsports Chevrolet. The victory extended his lead in the series standings.
The race was far from clean. Ten cautions slowed the field throughout the afternoon, and 11 cars did not finish. Among those who failed to complete the race, Jeb Burton, Lavar Scott, Dexter Bean, Kyle Sieg, Patrick Emerling, Leland Honeyman Jr., Natalie Decker, and Nathan Byrd all exited due to crashes. Joey Gase was the only driver listed as out due to a mechanical issue.
Rajah Caruth, driving the No. 32 Jordan Anderson Racing Chevrolet, finished seventh. Connor Zilisch in the No. 1 JR Motorsports Chevrolet came in ninth, and Harrison Burton in the No. 24 Sam Hunt Racing Toyota rounded out the top 11.
Allgaier's fifth win keeps him firmly in control of the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series points standings as the season continues.
