Sony has released the first official synopsis for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, offering the clearest picture yet of where Tom Holland's Peter Parker is headed in his next solo film.
The description, shared as the Phase 6 installment moves closer to release, establishes a story built around Peter's isolation following the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. In that 2021 film, a spell erased all memory of Spider-Man's true identity from the world, leaving Peter to carry on as a hero while cut off from everyone who once knew him.
The official synopsis reads: "It's a BRAND NEW DAY for Peter Parker. Fighting crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that doesn't remember him—and the pressure of seeing his old friends move on without him—sparks a change in Peter he may not have the power to control. But that transformation might also be the only thing that can stop a shocking new threat to the city and those he loves - a powerful villain no one can even see. The world may have forgotten Peter Parker, but he hasn't forgotten them."
According to Screen Rant, Peter Parker has been absent from the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline for roughly five years since No Way Home ended. The new synopsis confirms the film will lean into that absence as a central source of tension, both for the hero's personal story and for the arrival of the new villain.
The description of the threat as one "no one can even see" is the first detail offered about the antagonist. No character name or casting information for the villain has been announced.
Brand New Day represents Holland's return to a standalone Spider-Man film after years of the character appearing only in ensemble MCU projects. The film is part of Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Sony distributing.
No release date has been confirmed as of this report.
