Rapper Drake has shared more details about his upcoming project titled Fear of Missing Out. The project is set to drop on September 15. It is being described as a short film rather than an album or video. Drake said the project was directed and scored by “the family.”
A teaser clip showed Drake behind the wheel of a neon green speedboat, according to Billboard. The scene was set against a city skyline with a female voice narrating, according to a report from Rolling Stone. She said, 'What if I told you there were two versions of your life.' The narration continued with descriptions of avoiding risk and withholding love. It also mentioned feeling disconnected from oneself and searching for something unattainable.
The trailer ended with a black-and-white poster for the project. Drake first teased the project in mid-August with a carousel of family photos captioned “FOMO 2026.” On August 21, he followed that with an image of a CD case bearing the words Fear of Missing Out. That event was scheduled for September 15 at 9 p.m. ET. Fans had various theories about what the project might be. Some believed it could be a new album, music video, or even a tour announcement.
Drake has a history of keeping his reveals mysterious and hard to access. He once made fans attempt to break into a block of ice for a surprise reveal. One fan even brought a blowtorch and hairspray in trying to get the information. Rolling Stone reported that fans used sledgehammers and other tools on the giant ice structure during the ICEMAN promotion in Toronto.
Drake's recent success includes holding the top three spots on the Billboard 200 chart. The three albums were ICEMAN, HABIBTI and MAID OF HONOUR. He also earned his 14th No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100. This broke a tie with Michael Jackson for the most No. 1 hits among male soloists. He also set a record with 42 songs charting in one week. His album ICEMAN debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. That move put him ahead of Jay-Z for the most No. 1 albums among rappers. ICEMAN had spent 13 weeks at No. 1 on the Top Rap Albums chart by the Sept. 5-dated chart. The Billboard 200 debut gave Drake his 15th No. 1 album on that chart.
