All five goals came in the final 30 minutes as Switzerland defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina 4-1 on Thursday to finish atop Group B at the 2026 World Cup. The match was played at Los Angeles Stadium.

The game was scoreless and largely uneventful until the 71st minute, when Swiss coach Murat Yakin brought on substitute Johan Manzambi. Shortly after entering the match, Manzambi converted a vicious side volley near the penalty spot after Ruben Vargas delivered a cross that Bosnian goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj could not stop.

Bosnia's chances effectively ended six minutes later when defender Tarik Muharemovic was sent off in the 80th minute for hauling down Breel Embolo to deny an obvious goalscoring opportunity. Referee Joao Pinheiro had no choice but to produce a red card.

Playing against ten men, Switzerland quickly added a second goal. Vargas found the bottom right corner after Embolo held the ball up near the spot and played it to his open teammate. Manzambi then completed his brace in the 90th minute, with Vargas again providing the assist. Bosnian substitute Ermin Mahmic pulled one back with a thunderous volley in stoppage time, but veteran midfielder Granit Xhaka converted from the penalty spot deep into second-half stoppage time to seal the result.

According to Al Jazeera, all five goals Bosnia has conceded in the tournament have come after the 70th minute, including the equalizer in their 1-1 opening draw against Canada.

Switzerland entered the match with one win and one draw after an unexpected 1-1 result against Qatar in their tournament opener. The victory gives them command of Group B heading into the final round of group stage matches.

Qatar and Canada play Thursday's later Group B match in Vancouver. The winner of that game will draw level on points with Switzerland, who are looking to advance to the knockout stage for a fourth consecutive World Cup.

Bosnia and Herzegovina remain on one point and will need to defeat Qatar in their group finale to have any realistic chance of advancing.
