Wyndham Clark will tee off Sunday at 2:30 p.m. ET with a six-shot lead in the final round of the 2026 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club. Standing between him and the title is Scottie Scheffler, who needs a win to complete the career grand slam.
According to CBS Sports, Clark extended his lead by two shots on Saturday with an even-par 70. Shinnecock Hills had played relatively easier in the first two rounds, but conditions stiffened on Saturday and the course fought back. Clark held his ground, grinding out pars and delivering what CBS Sports called the shot of the week to set up an eagle on the 16th hole.
The winner will take home $4.5 million from a record $22.5 million total purse. Clark will have to manage the nerves on a course that is only getting tougher, and do so in front of a crowd expected to try to will Scheffler into a historic comeback.
The penultimate pairing features Tom Kim and Sahith Theegala, who tee off at 2:19 p.m. Both are looking for their best major finishes in years. If things go wrong for Clark late in the round, that group could play spoiler.
A marquee pairing of Tommy Fleetwood and Xander Schauffele goes off ahead of them. Both players are considered to have let an opportunity slip away during Saturday's round. Fleetwood has a specific memory he can draw on at Shinnecock. He shot a 63 in the final round of the 2018 U.S. Open at the same course, and CBS Sports noted he plans to use that round as visualization for what is possible on Sunday.
Rory McIlroy tees off at 12:13 p.m. alongside Akshay Bhatia, more than two hours before the leaders. McIlroy suffered a back-nine collapse on Saturday that effectively removed him from serious contention, barring something extraordinary on Sunday.
Jordan Spieth tees off at 10:24 a.m. with Michael Brennan. Hideki Matsuyama goes off at 8:18 a.m. alongside Neal Shipley. Justin Thomas is paired with Laurie Canter at 11:02 a.m., and Justin Rose tees off at 11:24 a.m. with Max McGreevy.
The full field begins teeing off at 7:45 a.m. ET. Clark's tee time at 2:30 p.m. marks the start of what figures to be the most closely watched pairing of the championship.
