Ottawa Senators Trading Brady Tkachuk to Florida Panthers in Draft Pick Deal

The reported deal would reunite Brady with his brother Matthew Tkachuk and give the Panthers a major roster upgrade after missing the playoffs.

The Ottawa Senators are reportedly close to trading Brady Tkachuk to the Florida Panthers, a blockbuster move that would reunite him with his brother Matthew on one of the NHL's most accomplished rosters.

The reported trade package from Florida includes the Panthers' first-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft, a 2029 first-round pick, and a 2030 second-round pick, according to Fox News.

Brady, 26, entered this offseason as a known trade candidate. He has two years remaining on a seven-year, $57.5 million contract he signed with the Senators. Last season he tallied 59 points, including 29 goals, and helped Ottawa return to the playoffs. The Senators were eliminated in the first round by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2025, and were swept by the eventual Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes this past postseason.

The Panthers missed the playoffs this past season, finishing 40-38-4. That marked a sharp drop for a franchise that won the Stanley Cup in back-to-back seasons before this year.

Brady reportedly had a list of teams he was willing to accept in a trade. That list included the Carolina Hurricanes, the Vegas Golden Knights, and the Minnesota Wild, according to TSN. Florida was also on that list, making the reported deal one he would welcome.

The Tkachuk brothers previously played together for Team USA at the Winter Olympics in Milano-Cortina earlier this year, helping the United States capture gold over Canada. Brady scored three goals and totaled five points in the tournament. The two won gold together before, and now they appear set to chase a Stanley Cup on the same team.

For the Panthers, adding Brady alongside Matthew gives them a physical, high-scoring forward to pair with an already talented roster in Sunrise. The front office moved quickly this offseason to address the team's shortcomings from a disappointing regular season.

Brady was named captain of the Senators ahead of the 2021-22 season, the same year he signed his long-term contract. Leaving Ottawa also means leaving the captaincy behind, but the reported move puts him in position to compete for a championship with a franchise that knows how to win one.
