BODY:
The Charlotte Hornets are acquiring veteran wing Dorian Finney-Smith and three second-round picks from the Houston Rockets, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.
The deal adds a proven defensive presence to a young Charlotte roster that has been rebuilding around guard LaMelo Ball. Finney-Smith, known primarily for his perimeter defense and three-point shooting, has experience playing on winning teams, including time with the Dallas Mavericks and Brooklyn Nets before joining Houston.
The inclusion of three second-round picks gives Charlotte additional future assets to work with as the franchise continues to build out its roster. Second-round picks carry less guaranteed value than first-rounders but provide depth and flexibility for a front office still in a developmental phase.
The Rockets, meanwhile, move on from Finney-Smith while clearing cap space and roster flexibility heading into what figures to be a competitive offseason for a young Houston team that has positioned itself as a rising Eastern and Western Conference contender.
No further terms of the deal were immediately available.
