Chase Stillman has a new team.
The 23-year-old forward signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday, according to ESPN. The deal is worth $850,000 at the NHL level if Stillman makes the roster.
Stillman, a St. Louis native, was a first-round pick of the New Jersey Devils in 2021. The two-way structure of the contract means his salary differs depending on whether he plays in the NHL or at the minor league level.
Detroit used the signing to add a young forward with first-round pedigree, giving Stillman a chance to establish himself at the NHL level after his time with the Devils organization.
