Jesse Eisenberg has made no secret of which role means the most to him. The two-time Oscar nominee says playing street magician J. Daniel Atlas in the Now You See Me franchise is unlike anything else in his career, and he wants to do it again.
"Honestly, I'd love to do Now You See Me 4 more than anything else," he told The Wrap. "I've never felt happier than when playing that part."
Eisenberg explained the appeal in straightforward terms. "Normally I play depressed people, which makes me depressed, but playing that confident, arrogant magician, I walk away everyday thinking, 'That was amazing.' It's the only character where I get to stand up straight and wear a nicer outfit. It's my happiest place."
According to Deadline, Eisenberg most recently reprised the role in Now You See Me: Now You Don't, directed by Ruben Fleischer and released in November. The film reunited him with Dave Franco, Isla Fisher, Woody Harrelson, Lizzy Caplan, Morgan Freeman, and Mark Ruffalo. The ensemble first appeared together in Now You See Me in 2013, followed by a sequel in 2016. Combined, the franchise has grossed more than $932 million worldwide.
Lionsgate chair Adam Fogelson announced at last year's CinemaCon that Fleischer will return to direct a fourth installment. No release date has been announced.
