Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs have agreed on a five-year, $252 million maximum rookie-scale contract extension, sources told ESPN.
The deal keeps the young French center in San Antonio for the foreseeable future and represents the largest contract commitment in Spurs history. Wembanyama, who was selected first overall in the 2023 NBA Draft, has quickly established himself as one of the most unique players in the league, combining a seven-foot-four frame with guard-like skills, shot-blocking ability, and perimeter shooting.
The extension is the maximum allowed under the rookie-scale rules, reflecting the Spurs' belief that Wembanyama is the centerpiece of their rebuild. At $252 million over five years, it ranks among the largest contracts in NBA history.
