Sacha Baron Cohen showed up at the 2026 Wimbledon finals in character as Ali G on Sunday, posting video from the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London to a newly created Instagram account.

The appearance came on the heels of a report that Baron Cohen had secretly wrapped production on a new Ali G film, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The sequel has no confirmed release date and has not been officially announced. It would be the character's first feature film in more than 20 years, following 2002's Ali G Indahouse.

In the video, Baron Cohen's character offered his take on the sport. "Iz here at the men's singles in Wimbledon, which actually, despite its name, ain't a party for Gaylords. It's like the World Cup of something called tennis, which is like a crap version of ping pong. Them say that tennis is better played on grass, which is why I intend to sell as much of it while iz here. So if you want some herbal remedies, me got anything you want," the character says in the clip, trying to sell marijuana.

In the caption of the post, Baron Cohen wrote, "I iz BACK! And if u iz at dis borin wimbledore final lookin 2 get grand slammed, I iz here wif de hookup."

The Wrap also reported on the appearance, noting that fans in the comments responded enthusiastically. One Instagram user wrote, "Bring back Ali G 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻." Another commented, "Ali G is back, the world's gonna be ok."

Ali G first appeared in 1998 in a segment on the British television program The 11 O'Clock Show on Channel 4. The character became known for conducting absurd interviews with high-profile public figures, including Donald Trump and David and Victoria Beckham, while dressed in signature yellow tracksuits and speaking in hip-hop slang. Da Ali G Show ran for three seasons from 2000 to 2004, and Ali G Indahouse followed in 2002.

Baron Cohen, 54, is a three-time Oscar nominee. No further details about the reported new film have been confirmed as of publication.
