Even Oprah Winfrey writes fan letters. The media mogul revealed during a recent appearance on the web series "Are You Okay?" that she was so moved by Beyonce's 2023 Renaissance world tour that she sent the singer a personal letter afterward, and received an unexpected gift in return.
According to Billboard, Winfrey made the disclosure in a clip posted Monday, July 27, from the street interview show hosted by Brianna "Bri" Morales.
"I went to the Beyoncé Renaissance concert," Winfrey said. "I was so blown away. I wrote her a fan letter. She obviously liked the fan letter because she then sent me one of the hats from Renaissance. Beyoncé sent me a hat!"
The hat in question is one of the tour's signature wide-brimmed shiny disco chapeaus. Winfrey's reaction to receiving it was enthusiastic. She did a small dance and repeated the exchange like a refrain: "I sent her a letter and she sent me a hat! I sent her a letter and she sent me a hat!"
Winfrey had already gone public with her feelings about the concert back in August 2023. She posted an Instagram video of herself dancing at a Renaissance tour stop in New Jersey, alongside her close friend Gayle King and Beyonce's mother, Tina Knowles. The three were in the pit near the stage at MetLife Stadium during the song "Break My Soul."
"I have never in my life experienced something as transcendent," Winfrey wrote in the caption of that video. "That kind of talent, synergy, expression, and anointing is something that comes straight from a Source that creates the planets," she continued. "The dancers, the production, the musicians, and the team in front and behind the scenes, all perfectly align to create a renaissance in today's world. You must see it."
Beyonce has remained active on the charts in recent weeks. Earlier this month, she made a surprise return to the top 10 of Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart for the first time in three years when "Morning Dew (Donk)" debuted at No. 7 on the chart dated July 18.
