Suri Cruise, daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, has legally changed her last name from Cruise to Noelle, according to voter registration records obtained by Fox News Digital. She is 20 years old and a student at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.

Her registration is now listed under Suri Noelle, an homage to her mother's middle name. Suri had previously used the name during her high school graduation in 2024, but the change is now reflected in official records. She is registered to vote in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.

Representatives for both Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Monica Mazzei, Chair of Buchalter's Family Law Group, told Fox News Digital that Suri had the full legal right to make the change on her own. "Katie Holmes has had sole legal custody of her daughter, which means up until Suri's 18th birthday, she could make all legal decisions without needing Tom's permission and could have consented to the name change prior if there was a desire," Mazzei said. "You can legally change your name to anything you want."

Holmes and Cruise welcomed Suri in April 2006 and married in Italy later that year. They divorced in 2012. Holmes has spoken publicly about shielding her daughter from media attention given how visible Suri was as a young child.

"What has been really important for me with my daughter, because she was so visible at a young age, is I really like to protect her," Holmes told Glamour in April 2023. She added, "I'm very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent. She's an incredible person."

Holmes has also spoken about Suri's transition to college life. "I'm proud of my daughter. Of course, I will miss the close proximity, but I'm really proud of her, and I'm happy," Holmes shared with Town & Country.

In 2022, Suri made her film debut in the movie "Alone Together." Holmes has pushed back on at least one media report about Suri's finances, writing "completely false" over a screenshot of an article that suggested Suri had inherited millions from her father when she turned 18, and adding on Instagram, "Enough."
