BTS's album ARIRANG has surged back into the top 10 on multiple Billboard charts after the release of a new picture disc vinyl edition and a high-profile performance at the FIFA World Cup final halftime show.
According to Billboard, ARIRANG moved from No. 26 to No. 9 on the Billboard 200, from No. 19 to No. 2 on Vinyl Albums, and from No. 12 to No. 3 on Top Album Sales for the chart dated August 1. The album originally debuted at No. 1 across all three rankings on the April 4-dated chart.
In the tracking week ending July 23, ARIRANG earned 40,000 equivalent album units in the United States, a 62% increase week-over-week, according to data from Luminate. Vinyl purchases made up roughly 12,500 of that total, a jump of 398% compared to the previous week.
The new vinyl variant, released July 17, is a picture disc featuring two bonus tracks. The package also includes collectible paper items, among them an eight-card Polaroid set.
The chart gains were not driven by vinyl alone. BTS co-headlined the halftime show at the FIFA World Cup final on July 19, where the group performed Dynamite, their 2020 No. 1 Hot 100 hit. Promotion surrounding ARIRANG's new single Normal also contributed to the album's renewed momentum.
On the Top Album Sales chart for the same week, ARIRANG ranked third behind Gracie Abrams, whose album Daughter From Hell debuted at No. 1 with 77,000 units sold in her best sales week ever, and Motionless In White's Decades, which debuted at No. 2 and became the band's highest-charting title to date.
