The New England Patriots added a running back to their roster Wednesday, signing Hassan Haskins one day before their preseason opener against the Indianapolis Colts.
To make room, the Patriots waived rookie Myles Montgomery with an injury designation. Montgomery had signed with New England as an undrafted free agent this offseason after playing college ball at Cincinnati from 2021 to 2023 and then UCF from 2024 to 2025. He recorded 705 rushing yards in his final college season.
Haskins brings three years of NFL experience to the roster. He entered the league with the Tennessee Titans in 2022 and then played for the Los Angeles Chargers from 2024 to 2025. His most recent production was 47 rushing yards with the Chargers last season, according to Yahoo Sports.
Haskins joins a backfield in New England that is led by Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson. The running back room also includes Terrell Jennings, Lan Larison, and rookie Jam Miller.
The Patriots play the Colts on Thursday in Week 1 of the preseason.
