The CW pulled Miss USA and Miss Teen USA from its schedule this week, less than a week before both competitions were set to air. Miss Teen USA had been scheduled for Wednesday, August 26, and Miss USA for Thursday, August 27.
The network gave no detailed explanation. In a brief statement to Deadline, The CW said: "After careful consideration and conversations with the Miss USA Organization, The CW Network has decided to forgo next week's broadcasts of the Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants. We wish the organization and all of this year's contestants well in the competition."
The Miss USA organization told a different story. In a statement posted to the pageants' Instagram Stories, organizers said a contractual problem with their production arrangements had surfaced two weeks earlier. "Since then, our team has worked diligently to explore options that would allow us to continue with a live broadcast on The CW," the statement said. "Unfortunately, we were unable to reach mutually agreeable terms for this year's event."
The history between The CW and these pageants has been unstable. The network signed a three-year deal in April 2024 to carry them, but then did not air either competition last year. That gap came after Miss USA 2023 Noelia Voigt and Miss Teen USA 2023 UmaSofia Srivastava both resigned from their titles in May 2024, publicly accusing pageant organizers of abuse and bullying. The 2024 competitions streamed on the Queen Beauty Network instead, marking the first time Miss USA had not been televised since 1965.
Just two months ago, in June 2026, The CW signed a new multi-year deal with BDE Miss USA, the current owner of the competitions, to air the August events. That agreement has now fallen apart for this cycle as well.
The pageants have also faced controversy this month over the dethroning of former Miss North Carolina USA Brittany Boltinhouse. Organizers issued a statement condemning what they described as conduct violating the pageant's policies on racism, homophobia and transphobia. Boltinhouse was replaced by runner-up Myla Hadley.
Both Miss USA and Miss Teen USA will once again stream on the Queen Beauty Network. The Miss USA organization said in its statement that it remains open to working with The CW in future years.
