France and Italy Draw 1-1 as Zidane’s Perfect Start Ends

France faced Italy in a tight Nations League Group A1 match at Stade de France in Saint-Denis. Zinedine Zidane took charge of France for the first time at home in this match.

Italy's head coach Roberto Mancini watched his team battle France in the competitive fixture. France took the lead in the 55th minute with a goal from Michael Olise according to Reuters.

Olise scored after a short free kick taken by Rayan Cherki.

The ball curled in off the underside of the crossbar to give France the advantage. Alessandro Bastoni equalized for Italy in the 68th minute after Lucas Da Cunha failed to control a pass. France finished the match with 10 players after Dayot Upamecano received a second yellow card.

Italy had an early chance to equalize, but Moise Kean missed a close-range opportunity. Kean shot the ball straight at France's goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw, with both teams unable to score again.

France remained at the top of Group A1 after this game. Belgium beat Turkey 3-0 in another match of the group. Kevin De Bruyne scored twice for Belgium in that game.

De Bruyne’s first goal came from the edge of the box after a one-two with Dodi Lukebakio. His second goal also came from outside the penalty area and curled into the net. Romelu Lukaku scored Belgium’s third goal.

Poland beat Romania 6-0 as Robert Lewandowski scored a hat-trick. Bosnia and Herzegovina drew 1-1 with Sweden. Edin Dzeko played his final international match in that game.

Other Nations League games included Ukraine's match against Northern Ireland. Northern Ireland went ahead in that match with a goal from Ciaron Brown. Brown scored twice for the team in Trnava.

Isaac Price scored a goal for Northern Ireland in that match. The Nations League group also featured matches involving the Faroe Islands and other teams.
