Noah Kahan opened the chart week of May 9 with a new No. 1, as "Doors" debuted atop Billboard's Hot Rock and Alternative Songs chart with 17.9 million streams, 135,000 in radio audience, and 1,000 copies sold in the United States in the week ending April 30.
The song, released April 24 on Kahan's fourth album "The Great Divide," gave him his second chart-topper on the tally. His previous No. 1 came from the album's title track, which debuted at the top in February and sits at No. 2 this week. All 21 songs from the album land in the top 30, with the lowest-charting track, "A Few of Your Own," coming in at No. 30. That sweep makes Kahan the act with the most songs simultaneously in the top 30 in the chart's history, exceeding 19 each for Zach Bryan and Linkin Park.
Kahan also holds the top four positions on the chart simultaneously, making him only the third act to do so since the tally launched in 2009. Bryan achieved the top eight for a week in September 2023; Imagine Dragons held the top four in August 2018.
"The Great Divide" entered at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, Kahan's first appearance at the top of the all-genre albums chart. It also debuted with 389,000 weekly equivalent album units, the most for a rock album since that methodology was introduced in 2014. The album displaced his own "Stick Season" at the top of the Top Rock and Alternative Albums chart. "Stick Season" had spent 32 nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 since June 2023.
On the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, "Doors" entered at No. 9, giving Kahan his third top-10 single. His previous top-10s were "The Great Divide" at No. 6 in February and "Stick Season" at No. 9 in 2024. All 21 tracks from the new album appear on the Hot 100, with 12 landing in the top 40.
Kahan is also set to perform as musical guest on "Saturday Night Live" on May 9, alongside host Matt Damon, who returns to the show for his third time hosting. Damon will next appear in Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey," opening in theaters July 17. Will Ferrell closes out Season 51 the following week on May 16, with Paul McCartney as musical guest.
