Fox's free streaming service Tubi just made its largest creator commitment to date, and the person at the center of it is comedian Kevin "KevOnStage" Fredericks.

According to Deadline, the multi-project, multi-year deal builds on the success of the Tubi Original Safe Space, a comedy series that Fredericks co-created, directed, executive produced, and starred in. The show premiered last November. In it, Fredericks plays the underqualified Dr. Fredericks, whose goal is to guide struggling couples back toward healing. The show's eight-episode second season premieres in June, with a third season already set for July 2027.

The new deal goes well beyond Safe Space. Fredericks will also develop The Airport, a 10-episode workplace comedy set in the country's most dysfunctional airport, where an understaffed and ill-equipped team fights to keep operations going. That series premieres in November.

Also on the slate is a stand-up special called Grief Sucks, in which Fredericks takes a heartfelt and comedic look at grief and family. That premieres February 21, 2027. And then there are the films. A holiday comedy is slated for 2027, and a horror comedy is set for 2028.

Fredericks addressed the scope of the deal directly. "This slate is what happens when a platform believes in a creator's full vision and gives them room to grow," he said. "Tubi has given me the platform to do it all, from producing my first stand-up special to developing my first films, while also creating opportunities for up-and-coming creators, especially Black creators whose voices deserve to be amplified. Comedy has always been central to who I am, and getting to bring these projects to life with a partner that truly believes in the work has been incredibly meaningful. We're building something much bigger than one show, and I can't wait for people to see what's coming."

Rich Bloom, General Manager of Creator Programs and Executive Vice President of Business Development at Tubi, framed the deal as part of a larger strategy. "Kevin has built a powerful connection with audiences through authentic, laugh-out-loud storytelling," Bloom said. "Expanding our partnership with him reflects our commitment to giving creators who bring unique voices and loyal fanbases to the platform the runway to go bigger, whether that means a new series, a stand-up special, or their first films."

Fredericks is not new to Tubi. He previously partnered with the platform on Bald Brothers, a fully improvised comedy series created with comedian Tony Baker. Beyond Tubi, he is known for the BET+ comedy Church, TBS's Friday Night Vibes, and the podcast Not My Best Moment, produced with iHeartMedia and Unanimous Media, the company founded by Stephen Curry and Erick Peyton.

With millions of social media followers and a career spanning stand-up, television, and film, Fredericks has built the kind of loyal audience that streaming platforms actively compete for. This deal suggests Tubi is betting heavily that loyalty will translate into viewership across formats.
