Paramount+ announced Thursday that it has greenlit a sequel series to the 1995 film Clueless, with Alicia Silverstone returning to play Cher Horowitz. The original movie became a defining teen comedy of the 1990s and has maintained a large following in the decades since.

The new series will pick up 30 years after the events of the original film. According to a press release for the project, Cher is now a mother navigating her daughter's high school years. "Cher Horowitz has figured out a lot: She's successful in business and has mastered motherhood -- that is, until her daughter's high school years, and Cher finds that parenting a teenager makes her feel 'clueless' all over again," the press release states.

Silverstone will also serve as an executive producer on the project. Amy Heckerling, who wrote and directed the original film, and Robert Lawrence, who produced it, will also serve as executive producers. Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage, and Jordan Weiss will write and co-executive produce the series.

Filming is scheduled to begin in Los Angeles in 2027, according to ABC News.
