Lucasfilm and Wizards of the Coast announced an official Star Wars expansion for Dungeons and Dragons during Gen Con 2026, with a planned release in 2027. The crossover marks the second major setting revealed under the Universes Beyond label, following a previously announced World of Warcraft expansion.
According to Collider, Universes Beyond is part of Wizards of the Coast's new seasonal publishing strategy, which combines classic Dungeons and Dragons worlds with well-known franchises from outside the fantasy role-playing game genre. D&D Beyond provided details on the initiative.
The announcement comes during an active period for Star Wars in gaming. Star Wars Zero Company is set to launch in the coming weeks for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The game was developed by Bit Reactor in collaboration with Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games. It is a turn-based tactical strategy title set during the Clone Wars, following an elite squad carrying out covert operations during the galaxy-wide conflict.
The Star Wars and Dungeons and Dragons crossover will mark the first time the franchise has moved into the tabletop role-playing game space under an official Wizards of the Coast label. No additional details about the expansion's content or specific 2027 release window have been announced.
