Chase DeLauter hit two triples and drove in two runs Sunday as the Cleveland Guardians beat the Colorado Rockies 7-2 to complete a three-game series sweep in Denver.
The victory was Cleveland's fourth in a row and sixth in their last eight games, according to ABC News. The Guardians remain tied with the Texas Rangers for the American League's third and final wild-card spot.
Foster Griffin earned the win, improving to 15-4 on the season after allowing two earned runs over five innings. It was his first start against the Rockies and his fourth since being acquired from another team on Aug. 3.
Jo Adell added two RBIs, continuing a strong run since joining Cleveland. He has driven in 17 runs in his first 17 games with the Guardians since being acquired from the Los Angeles Angels at the trade deadline. DeLauter's performance lifted his batting average in August to .348. Steven Kwan, Angel Martinez, and Austin Hedges each added two hits.
Colorado starter Tomoyuki Sugano took the loss, giving up five earned runs and nine hits in just three innings. It was tied for the shortest outing of the season for the 36-year-old right-hander, who had pitched at least five innings in each of his previous 22 starts.
The Rockies have now lost six in a row, tied for their longest losing streak of the season. Their home losing streak extended to nine games.
Cleveland travels to face the Los Angeles Angels on Monday, with Parker Messick scheduled to start.
