The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Cincinnati Reds 10-9 after a wild ninth-inning comeback. Cincinnati carried a 5-4 lead into the ninth, but center fielder Dane Myers dropped a fly ball with two outs, allowing Masyn Winn and José Fermín to score and give St. Louis a 6-5 lead. The Cardinals went on to score six runs in the inning, including two on a Fermín single, before Cincinnati answered with four runs in the bottom half. Matt McLain had given the Reds the lead with his second career grand slam in the sixth. Peter Strzelecki pitched two scoreless innings to earn the win, improving to 1-1, while Ryan Stanek took the loss for Cincinnati.

The Los Angeles Angels routed the Houston Astros 18-3 at Daikin Park, scoring their most runs in a game in three years. Zach Neto led the Angels with a career-best performance, going 5-for-6 with his 21st home run and seven RBIs. Los Angeles collected a season-high 18 hits as the offense overwhelmed Houston's pitching staff. The Texas Rangers defeated the Washington Nationals 2-0 at Globe Life Field as Jacob deGrom reached 2,000 career strikeouts. DeGrom allowed only one hit and one walk over six scoreless innings while striking out 10, becoming the second-fastest pitcher in major league history to reach 2,000 strikeouts by both games and innings pitched. Corey Seager gave Texas a 1-0 lead with a solo home run in the third inning. Ezequiel Duran tripled in the eighth and scored on a Nicky Lopez sacrifice fly for the Rangers' second run. The Cleveland Guardians defeated the San Francisco Giants 5-2 at Progressive Field as Gavin Williams struck out 11 batters over 5 2/3 innings. Cleveland scored three times in the first inning, with José Ramírez, Nathaniel Lowe and former Giants catcher Patrick Bailey each driving in a run. Willy Adames cut the deficit to 3-2 with a two-run homer in the fourth inning, the 200th home run of his career. Steven Kwan added an RBI single in the sixth, and Brayan Rocchio drove in another run in the eighth to complete the scoring. Cade Smith pitched a scoreless ninth for his 32nd save as Cleveland took two of three games in the series.

The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Seattle Mariners 7-4 at American Family Field, powered by a six-run first inning and a strong performance from Garrett Mitchell. Gary Sánchez opened the scoring with a two-run double before Joey Ortiz added an RBI single. Mitchell followed with a two-run double, and David Hamilton doubled home another run to give Milwaukee a 6-0 lead. Seattle responded with two runs in the second on a Brendan Donovan double and added two more in the fourth to cut the deficit to 6-4. Mitchell provided an insurance run with a solo homer in the eighth, finishing the game with two doubles, a home run and three RBIs. The Kansas City Royals defeated the Athletics 6-2 at Kauffman Stadium, with Connor Thomas earning the win after allowing just one hit in 1.2 innings of work. Isaac Collins drove in two runs with a single and scored once during the third inning rally that gave Kansas City a 3-0 lead. Gage Jump took the loss for the Athletics, pitching four innings and allowing five earned runs on eight hits while walking three. The Athletics managed just two runs in the game, with Lawrence Butler and Carlos Cortes each going 2-for-3 at the plate. Attendance for the game was 11,867 fans. The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles 6-1 at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Gerrit Cole won the game for the Yankees, pitching six innings and striking out eight batters. In the top of the third inning, José Caballero reached on a fielder's choice, scoring Spencer Jones. Ben Rice added an RBI with a single in the same inning, helping the Yankees take a 2-0 lead. Heliot Ramos doubled in the third to drive in Ben Rice and extend the Yankees' lead to 3-0. Spencer Jones and Luis García Jr. each homered in the top of the sixth to give the Yankees a 5-1 advantage.
